Licenses
License overview
A license grants you a non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use and incorporate the item in your personal or commercial projects.
If your end product including one of our items is going to be free to the end-user then a Personal License is what you need. If you want to build multiple applications either for you or your client then you need to buy multiple licenses. A Developer License is required if the end-user must pay to use the end product or paid services or goods are delivered via your application.
Personal Application License
Your use of the item is restricted to a single application. You may use the item in work that you are creating for your purposes or your client. You must not incorporate the item in a work that is created for redistribution or resale by you or your client. The item may not be redistributed or resold. You may not charge users for using your application.
Developer Application License
Your use of the item is restricted to a single application. You may use the item in work that you are creating for your purposes or your clients. You are licensed to use the Item to create one single End Product for yourself or one client (a “single application”), and the End Product may be Sold and users may be charged for using it (e.g. you are building a SAAS application).
If you need any clarifications considering licenses feel free to contact us via email: [email protected] or raise your question in our forum – it is more likely to receive an immediate response.
Will you check the products that are made with the help of your templates?
Yes, occasionally our legal department is doing checks on the web or mobile applications that are using our products and requesting the license key to be sure the codebase was not stolen/downloaded illegally. So, keep the license key safely and do not share it outside the company.
Are you free products licensed under MIT and what does it mean?
Yes, our free products come with an MIT license. MIT is a permissive license with conditions only requiring the preservation of copyright and license notices. Licensed works, modifications and larger works may be distributed under different terms and without the source code.
Which type of license should I purchase if my end product will be used for selling products which require a subscription (SaaS application)?
If you charge your users a monthly fee – SaaS application, you need the Developer License. If you don't charge a monthly fee, you can use the Personal license. You can always start with a Personal License and upgrade to a Developer just by paying the difference by sending a request to our support team – we will send you a custom payment link.
There are examples of applications that need a Developer license:
- CRM tool with the monthly subscription;
- E-commerce store;
- Project management tool with the monthly subscription;
- Mobile application with in-app purchases.
What does lifetime access refer to?
You can access the product for life. This means that by purchasing a license once, you can always use it without restrictions. Both of our License includes lifetime tech support, a free three-month upgrade, and access to private repositories to follow source code changes when needed. Check these terms for each License and also read the Knowledge Center and documentation for more details.
How can I upgrade the license?
You can upgrade your license anytime you want by simply paying the difference in cost. To do this, please write us an email with the product name and license key.
For example, you paid $59 for Sing App React - Personal License and now you need the Developer License which is $249, you only need to pay $190.
What are the differences between the licenses on the website?
There are only two types of licenses available for our templates:
- Personal;
- Developer.
The Personal license is the best suit for people who work on their own or for the internal products in the companies. The license allows you to use the template to build only one product – for yourself or a client.
The Developer license is good for agencies or larger teams/companies. It allows you to use our products for creating products that can be sold on a subscription basis.
Is there any type of restriction regarding the Developer license?
The most important limitation that applies to the Developer license is that we do not allow the use of our products for the construction of direct competitors. Also, we do not allow putting our products under the MIT license in the repository without serious alterations.
Can I remove the copyright details and the link to the Flatlogic website from free products?
No, unfortunately, you can’t remove the mention from any place in the template. However, all this does not affect the User Experience. Many developers steal our products’ code and publish it without paying. We must protect our customers and users from these people.
What is the difference between a Free and a Premium product?
The difference between free and premium products is the number of components, pages, and other functionality. Also, we do not offer back-ends for free products.
Free versions usually contain a basic set of components that will allow you to start the application and make it complete. Usually, in the paid versions, you can see hundreds of components, a full CRUD application, premium support and other features that will allow you to quickly build a full web and mobile application.
What do Free Updates mean?
Depending on the license, there is a period when product updates will be free for you.
- Personal: You will receive Free Updates for 3 months.
- Developer: You will receive Free Updates for 6 months.
At the end of this period, you will need to re-purchase the subscription for updates – it costs $14.95 for 12 months of updates. If you do not renew your subscription for updates, you can still use your product, but you will not have access to our products – we will remove you from the project repository.
How many team members can access the product?
In Flatlogic we don’t charge any fee for additional members. If you are developing a product with the help of Flatlogic templates and your team consists of 10 people, you can share the product with this team. We are not allowed to share the product outside the company that bought our products.
Do I have to keep the copyright and link to Flatlogic visible if I bought and used a Premium product?
No, on paid products you do not need to save any information that you have used Flatlogic templates. But if you do, we will be very grateful.
